TEEL’s relocation to Fairfax, VA after nearly 28 years in Great Falls provided additional space for our team’s continued innovation and growth. Phase I of the relocation encompassed the interior fit-out of the company’s new headquarters. Phase II brought the renovation outdoors with a new facade. Working closely with Cowie Associates and the City of Fairfax’s Board of Architectural Review, the team met rigorous historical district design criteria. As our architect, Chris Cowie stated, “we sought a design that looks to the future but also respects the history of this building and the City of Fairfax. TEEL executed this vision with precision.” The design includes a new MEG paneling system, anodized aluminum canopies, and a plaster entry column feature to better define the building entry. Built on an 80,000 square foot lot in 1960, TEEL completed the comprehensive renovation of Southgate Shopping Center including a façade renovation, roof replacement, new electrical services, HVAC units and interior white box work with two tenant build-outs.
Together with the owner and architect, TEEL accomplished raising the façade for increased visibility of the shopping center along with creating contemporary lines by removing the brick and shingle material, adding brand new framing, EIFS and paint and incorporating the modern architectural detail finishes by Butz-Wilbern Architects. The before and after construction photos capture the building’s considerable exterior upgrades.
Total demolition and renovation of a stand-alone building that was a former dry cleaners, including structural roof components, MEP, storefront and façade, to a white-box condition for a future Verizon Wireless store. TEEL subsequently was awarded the interior tenant fit-out for Verizon Wireless. Location: Colesville, MD Architect: Aitken-Sadlik Architects
Demolished 50% of the existing shopping center, making room for a new grocery store, flanked by new retail buildings. The project also included a façade renovation of 850 lineal feet of existing shopping center, new site utilities, sidewalks, entrances, lighting and landscaping. This 450 linear foot façade renovation included an EIFS parapet addition, new storefront assemblies, decorative brick piers, shed-style awnings and accent lighting. Extensive site work was also completed, comprising a storm water management system, new curb and gutter and site paving. Location: Landover Hills, MD Architect: Brasher Design
The wood-framed storefront was removed and replaced with an anodized aluminum assembly, complete with aluminum c-channels and corrugated metal accents. Location: Reston, VA Architect: Cooper Carry Architects
Façade renovation to the 215′ strip mall. This “facelift” was primarily constructed of light gauge framing and EIFS (Exterior Insulation Finish System).
